I adore autumn and winter. These seasons relax me and make me nostalgic for holidays past and I promise you, I'm ready to put up my Christmas tree already. Haha! Here's to the first frost...
The sun is shining and there's a fresh layer of glittery snow on the ground. All I could hear when I woke up this morning was "macro lens, macro lens, macro lens..." over and over in my head. Happy Sunday everyone!!!

Here are some shots I got of McKenna during the head shaving process. What a brave thing she is!!!
I had the opportunity to do a "before" photo shoot of my cousin, McKenna on Thursday; right before she shaved her head for St. Baldrick's. She was a wonderful little model and I had fun getting to know her a little better. This girl is beautiful, smart, genuine, talented, funny, giving and a blast to be around...
Thank you for stopping by, friends! :o)
I can't wait for the 2nd!! I'm getting pumped up for the St. Baldrick's event that I have volunteered to shoot. I initially asked my Aunt A if I could come to support my niece that is a "Shavee" and it has since turned into something so much more. Something that I am ridiculously proud of and can't wait to be a part of. Volunteering for events like these is a bit of magic for the soul. I can't wait to share all of the love, excitement, tears and laughter with all of you. :)
I purchased my Rockstar Ronan tee to wear that day (and many other days too, I'm sure). I'll be showing my RoLove for the Ronan Thompson Foundation and a story that has become near and dear to my heart. Maya Thompson is a soldier, an inspiration. For those of you who do not know who she is or who Ronan is, check this out. You'll be happy you did!!
Thank you, friends!

I'm so very excited to announce and be participating in a 2013 Relay For Life event! Silver Light Studios will be donating a session as well as prints to a donation basket that will be raffled off on April 20th, 2013. The event will be taking place at Woodstock North High School in Woodstock, IL.
The basket theme is "Making Memories" and all donations are provided by Centegra Hospital Associates.
I'm sure we all have our reasons for donating or participating and I would like very much to place my donation in honor of my Aunt, Pamela Campau, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2008. She was an amazing person and artist. She wrote a book documenting her experience while going through chemo called "The Chemo-Fairies", complete with journal-type entries and beautiful illustrations.
For anyone that is interested in donating to this event please click here.
As always, thank you so very much for your love and support!!

As always, thank you for your continued support - it means everything in the world to me!
I haven't challenged myself to do my Spirit Photography (as I like to call it) in quite some time. Just thought I would share this with you as inspiration, for me as well as you. Happy Wednesday everyone!!
Here are just a couple of the WONDERFUL savings you can expect from Silver Light!!
Hello friends!! I wanted to take this time to talk about an amazing Foundation. St. Baldrick's is a childhood cancer advocacy foundation that raises money for the research that is so desperately needed right now to cure this terrible disease. Childhood cancer is the #1 killer of children with one child being diagnosed every 3 seconds worldwide. For more information please visit their website www.stbaldricks.org
My dear cousin, McKenna, is 12 years old and she has signed up to be a "Shavee" at one of the thousands of events that are held across the country for St. Baldrick's; which means this brave girl will be shaving her head! Shavee's also raise money for the organization and all funds raised go directly to research for childhood cancer cures. You can click here to go to her page to make a donation or even just to check things out!
I will be there on May 2nd at Dummer School in Sandwich, IL to take pictures for McKenna. I am unfortunately not a direct volunteer for the Foundation but I hope to be very soon. I will be posting pictures of the event as soon as possible - I'm probably going to be too pumped to wait so they will most likely be posted the minute I get home on the 2nd :o)
Please stay tuned!!
This website is powered by Squarespace, a web hosting company; AND THEY ARE WONDERFUL! I am by no means a "newbie" when it comes to computers but I will admit that I have never designed my own website before. Aside from a few "user errors", with the help of the Customer Care employees at Squarespace the process was really quite easy. I just wanted to throw this out there in case any of my friends are looking to put up a site anytime soon. :o)
I also want to say a HUGE thank you to my friend Derek, without him I wouldn't even have known that Squarespace existed. I don't know if you will read this Derek, but if you do, thank you so very much for taking the time to teach me a thing or two and for always answering my many, many questions!
One more shout out to my friends, Billie and Patrick. Thank you for being a second set of eyes and for your very constructive criticism!
Welcome to Silver Light Studios' Blog!
In the future I plan to use this blog as a way to tell little stories about my experiences as a photographer. I love photography and I am constantly snapping away wether I have my Canon in my hand or my phone. I might snap a great shot (in my opinion. Hehe.) and feel the urge to share it with the world. Stay tuned...
I also hope to use the Silver Light blog as a knowledge base. Did I learn something new about my camera, lens or Photoshop? Did I come across an inspiring article? You will find all of that here plus much more!
I certainly encourage comments and questions and I look forward to helping in any way I can!
